He stayed in a hotel I worked at as a young man. Lots of famous chefs would stay there but Alton was one of the kindest in person. Polite and kind to all the staff, just one of those people where you meet them in person and you can tell they’re fundamentally “good.”

I’ve read that the only times he would get prickly is if he was out with his family and people would bug them, which I can totally understand.
